"Hey You" de Madonna dans le Top 20 des Chansons sur l'Environnement de Cord.

Libre: Songs on environment
By Mel Libre
Free Verse
Friday, April 8, 2011
Published in the Sun.Star Cebu newspaper on April 09, 2011.

IN OBSERVANCE of International Mother Earth Day on April 22, Cord, the digital magazine I edit, published its Top Twenty Environment Songs (visit: http://issuu.com/meel/docs/cord_april_2011_2).
Madonna, who sang Live Earth’s anthem, “Hey You” (#5), called for action to protect the environment. The tune is just one of the many that have attempted to bring the message about caring for the earth. Yet only a few environmental songs have become Top 40 hits.
While a good number of pop records are better erased from memory, there are songs for the earth that are timeless. Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World” (#8) is an example; it is a song that has withstood the test of time.
One of the most memorable scenes in the science fiction film, “12 Monkeys,” is that of the character of Bruce Willis travelling to the future in the aftermath of destruction. It shows a solitary man in a bare landscape as the song “What a Wonderful World” plays in the background. It leaves one teary-eyed.
There are those that can stand on their own through its lyrics, while others are associated with films or music videos that deal with the earth and the environment.
Earth Song” (#2), which features the emotional voice of Michael Jackson accompanied by a disturbing video, leaves a lasting impression. Motown genius Marvin Gaye wrote “Mercy, Mercy Me (The Ecology Song),” long before concern for the environment became urgent.
Rock groups are not behind in the green cause with records from the likes of REM (“Fall on Me”) and Daughtry (“What about Now”). Songwriter-singers dominate the list with such artists as Jack Johnson, Joni Mitchell, Peter Gabriel, Cat Stevens and Neil Young.
The theme song from the film, “Lost Horizon,” is one of the lesser-known compositions of Hal David and Burt Bacharach, yet the dreamy rendition of Shawn Phillips makes it a real gem. A strange entry is The Osmonds’ “Crazy Horses” (#14), which is actually about polluting vehicles.
Cord chose “Nature’s Way” as the No. 1 environment song for its urgent message and its simple, yet hypnotizing melody. The song was released in 1970, just before the psychedelic rock ensemble Spirit broke up.
Band member Randy California wrote "Nature's Way" in an afternoon when the group was playing at the Fillmore West in San Francisco. Spirit did not become a commercially successful band because it earned the label as one with strong political and social views.

Abbie Cornish se déshabille dans le numéro de Mai 2011 de "Esquire".

Sucker Punch star Abbie Cornish strips off as she prepares to attend the London premiere of the film
By Daily Mail Reporter
Last updated at 9:50 PM on 30th March 2011

She's been working away in Hollywood for several years, winning acclaim for stellar performances in films like Bright Star, Stop-Loss and Somersault.
And now Abbie Cornish is trying a new character on for size - smouldering cover girl - to promote her sexy new role in girl power action film Sucker Punch.
The Australian actress strips off in the new issue of Esquire magazine ahead of tomorrow night's premiere in London.
Abbie, 28, has already been dubbed 'the new Nicole Kidman,' and has just wrapped filming as the title role in Madonna's upcoming Wallis Simpson biopic W.E.
But Sucker Punch, which co-stars Emily Browning of Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events, Vanessa Hudgens and Jena Malone, is a little more fast-paced.
'The action is top-notch new s*** you haven’t seen before,' she enthuses. 'It’s insane. In. Sane.'
The actress, who dated Ryan Phillipe after meeting on the set of Stop-Loss, smoulders in the new photoshoot for Esquire magazine.
The golden-haired beauty gazes at the camera with piercing hazel eyes first in a lacy bra, before stripping off completely and covering her modesty with her hand.
Her confidence comes in handy when it comes to filming sex scenes, she admits. 'They’re (her co-stars) all mates, that’s the thing.
'So I’m lucky. With friends, if someone’s pants don’t come off properly, or if something gets stuck, you just end up giggling.'
Cornish likens these scenes to alligators. She explains: 'Alligators have two eyelids; a clear set, so they can see, and another one which is opaque.
'It’s like that when you’re acting those scenes. You’re looking through the clear eyelids. So it’s not me doing the scene with Bradley, it’s my character.'
Abbie has been busy promoting Sucker Punch and today arrived in London with co-stars Vanessa Hudgens and Jena Malone ahead of tomorrow night's Leicester Square premiere.
Away from the cameras, Abbie keeps busy with her never-ending list of extra-curricular hobbies. 'I’m into painting and street art and I’m a musician, I play piano,' she lists.
'And I love taking pictures or filming things documentary style. And I’m definitely active, I love surfing...'
Sucker Punch opens in UK cinemas on April 1.
Full feature appears in the May issue of Esquire, on sale Monday 4 April 2011.

Qui fait le mieux la couverture de OUT: Madonna ou Britney Spears?

Madonna Or Britney: Who Covered OUT Better?
Posted 14 hrs ago by Nicole James

We recently spotted Britney Spears on the cover of OUT magazine looking amaaaazing, but the lady has got some competition. Britney shares a dual cover of OUT magazine's "Ladies We Love" April issue with the one and only Madonna. Britney and Madonna together? Sounds familiar...
The cover snapshot of Madonna is from a photo shoot during her pre-fame days, when the Queen of Pop was just 24 years old. You know, when people thought of rosaries and nuns when they heard the word "Madonna," not cone bras. (Yes, those times actually existed.) She's rocking some very '80s hair and chains, and OMG, can we talk about how much she looks like her daughter Lourdes Leon here?! Or, rather, how much her daughter Lourdes Leon looks like HER. (Head over to OUT.com for many more photos from the shoot.)
A never-before-seen photo of Madonna before she was famous is a pretty big deal. But hello, the photo of Britney on the cover was...kind of mind-blowing. (Also of note: Same finger-bitey pose? Decades apart?! What does it MEAN?!)
+ Forgive us, but we MUST ask: Who covered OUT better? Britney Spears or Madonna? Let us know in the comments, and relive their video rivalry in Britney Spears' "Me Against The Music".

La presse sur Madonna dans le magazine Out - Avril 2011.

Madonna ‘was like Pied Piper’
Cover Media – Tue, Mar 15, 2011 9:00 AM SGT

Madonna was the “Pied Piper of her neighbourhood” even before she was famous, as all the kids loved her.
The musical icon appears on the cover of the latest edition of Out magazine, with the picture taken from one of her earliest photoshoots. It is a previously unseen photograph taken by Richard Corman in 1982. It’s used as part of the publication’s Ladies We Love series, which saw Britney Spears get the first cover last week.
The photographer talks about his experience of working with the young Madonna in an accompanying essay, and explains that from the moment they met he knew she had something special.
There was no pretence to it… She said, ‘You know, we should go up to the roof because I go up there with all the kids from the building.’ She was like the Pied Piper of the neighbourhood - they loved her. They followed her, they danced with her, they sang with her. It was something they did on a daily basis, and it was remarkable,” he explained. “We just walked up and they gathered around. She put the boom box on - it was her music, though I don’t remember which song - and they just started dancing and singing. She was so alive and unpretentious. She was fierce, determined. Nothing was going to stop her.”
Richard loves looking back on the shoot because it’s so different from the way he, and Madonna, work now. He was just starting out too, so didn’t have anyone to help him take the pictures. It was just him and Madonna, which he finds hard to believe now.
They met because Richard’s mother was a well-known casting director, and the photographer is open about that being the main reason Madonna was willing to work with him.
I would shoot her a couple more times… [but] by then Madonna was becoming hot and big, and - in the nicest way - she would go to whoever would help her and move her ahead. I was that person to begin with because of the connection to my mother. But as soon as she had that rocket to fame she was off to the next stage.”

'80s-era Madonna covers Out magazine
By Liz Kelly Nelson
March 14, 2011 6:44 PM ET

Two decades ago, photographer Richard Corman took pictures of an up-and-coming singer/actress who lived in New York's Alphabet City. A year later, Madonna's first album was released and the rest is, as they say, history.
In Out magazine's April issue devoted to "Ladies We Love," Corman shares some never-before-published photos from that shoot and his memories of a pre-mega-stardom Madonna.
"She was so alive and unpretentious," says Corman in Out. "She was fierce, determined. Nothing was going to stop her."
Out's "Ladies We Love" issue is dedicated to the women "who inspire, scandalize, educate, and excite us". In addition to Madonna and Britney Spears, the issue celebrates Wendy Williams, Tippi Hedren, Heather Morris, Phyllis Diller, Stockard Channing, and more.

'Out' spotlights vintage Madonna snapshots

By Whitney Matheson, USA TODAY

The latest issue of Out magazine certainly catches the eye -- Madonna dons the cover, and inside is a portfolio of photos Richard Corman snapped a year before her first album was released.
"I looked up the staircase, and I saw this girl leaning over the edge of the banister, and even from three stories below I could see these catlike eyes just looking down," Corman says of their first meeting. "I knew at that moment that she had something special -- I really did."
Take a look at the story and photos online (the slide show features several web exclusives). Below is the striking cover.
Also of note: According to the story, a limited edition of these pics are for sale on richardcorman.com.
The issue goes on sale March 29.

We Love Madonna
March 14, 2011
Posted by Noah Michelson at 10:55:00 AM

Last week we debuted the first of two covers for our inaugural April 2011 "Ladies We Love" issue, which features Britney Spears, and today we premiere our other cover girl, Madonna.
While we pretty much love Madonna from every era of her career (OK, OK, there have been a few bumpy patches -- we're looking at you, American Life), we especially love the photos in our April issue shot by Richard Corman in NYC back in 1982, a year before the material girl's first album was released. Of the shoot Corman says:
She was like the Pied Piper of the neighborhood -- [the kids] loved her. They followed her, they danced with her, they sang with her. It was something they did on a daily basis, and it was remarkable. We just walked up and they gathered around. She put the boom box on -- it was her music, though I don’t remember which song -- and they just started dancing and singing. She was so alive and unpretentious. She was fierce, determined. Nothing was going to stop her.
Head to Out.com to see read the rest of Corman's account of shooting Madonna almost three decades ago and check out his gorgeous, hitherto unpublished photos of the icon, including 18 web-only images.

Madonna par Richard Corman dans le magazine Out: photos et interview.

EXCLUSIVE
I Shot Madonna
Fri Mar 11 2011

A year before her first album, an unknown Madonna invited Richard Corman to photograph her in and around her New York City walk-up. The pictures he took that day, published here for the first time, capture the energy and vitality of a woman destined to become a legend. Plus: See an extra 18 web-exclusive images!

I Shot Madonna

My mother was Cis Corman, a renowned casting director in New York City. In the summer of 1982 she was casting The Last Temptation of Christ for Martin Scorsese and called me to say they had just tested a girl for the part of the Virgin Mary. She said, "You must meet this girl -- she’s an original." I was 28 and had just finished an apprenticeship with Richard Avedon and was looking for interesting people to shoot. So I got this girl’s number and called. It was Madonna. At the time she was living in Alphabet City, and she suggested I go to her apartment and chat about what I wanted to do. I had to call her from a phone booth across the street, because the neighborhood was full of drug dealers, and they didn’t let people just walk in and out. There was a group of kids outside the building, on the stoop, in the hallways, and when I said I was there for Madonna the seas parted.

I looked up the staircase, and I saw this girl leaning over the edge of the banister, and even from three stories below I could see these catlike eyes just looking down. I knew at that moment that she had something special -- I really did. She had her best friend and neighbor, Martin, with her -- he later died of AIDS—and we sat and talked. She served me a cup of coffee on a silver tray with three pieces of Bazooka bubblegum. There was no pretense to it. When I came back a few days later to shoot her, she said, "You know, we should go up to the roof because I go up there with all the kids from the building." She was like the Pied Piper of the neighborhood -- they loved her.
After we came down from the rooftop, we walked through the neighborhood, laughing and chatting, stopping in front of a storefront that you see in one of the shots, stopping in front of a senior citizen’s home and hanging out with the old folks. For me, like her, when I do a shoot now, I’ve got eight people around me -- but that day it was just the two of us. I would shoot her a couple more times, once for the campaign for Vision Quest, with Matthew Modine and Linda Fiorentino. It was a hot coming-of-age film about wrestling in the Northwest, and she was the singer in the little bar that some of these teenagers would hang out in. By then Madonna was becoming hot and big, and -- in the nicest way -- she would go to whoever would help her and move her ahead. I was that person to begin with because of the connection to my mother. But as soon as she had that rocket to fame she was off to the next stage. That’s when Herb Ritts started photographing her exclusively, but that early period of the ’80s was amazing. I was photographing Basquiat and Keith Haring, and just to be part of all that took your breath away. People were truly taking chances. It was just a different energy, and Madonna was the focal point for a lot of that.

A limited edition of these photographs are available for sale on richardcorman.com.

Britney Spears Talks Christina Aguilera, Madonna, and Plastic Surgery in 'Out' Magazine
3/9/2011
Stephanie Tardugno

Britney Spears graces the cover of this month’s edition of Out magazine.
Inside the magazine, Spears is shown wearing a black leotard, which shows off her crotch tattoos, and black high heels.
According to Us Magazine, the Q&A that Out did with Spears was done via email, and the singer talked about several topics, including plastic surgery, Christina Aguilera, and her biggest phobia.
"When it's time to pull and tuck, I'm sure I will consider it," the singer said about plastic surgery. She also said that “being on a diet” is her idea of hell.
Spears also told the magazine that she thinks pop singer Christina Aguilera, who has been making controversial headlines in the news, is "truly talented."
The “Hold It Against Me” singer also said that her biggest phobia is flying "because I'm not in control," but she added that she'd like to be reincarnated as a "bird."
According to MTV News, the 29-year-old also said she’s fine with the many comparisons that have been made between her and Madonna. Spears even said that Madonna was who she tried to emulate when she first started out in her career, calling her “an amazing entertainer.”
The singer also doesn’t seem stressed about her upcoming 30th birthday, saying, "I'm excited to be out of my 20s."
The magazine with the full Q&A hits shelves on March 29.

Britney Spears Will Consider Plastic Surgery 'When it's Time,' Praises Madonna and Christina Aguilera in Out Magazine
3/9/2011
Gina DiFalco

Britney Spears graces the cover of Out Magazine, showing she’s still got it after all of these years in the business.
The 29-year-old Femme Fatale singer is enjoying the success of her new club hit “Hold it Against Me,” and fans are eagerly waiting to hear the rest of the album when it drops in May.
The pop star, who is happy with her agent-boyfriend Jason Trawick, opened up in the interview about Christina Aguilera, Madonna, and plastic surgery.
According to Us Magazine, Spears calls the former Mickey Mouse Club singer, Aguilera, “truly talented.”
MTV News reports that Spears called pop star Lady Gagaunique.”
But when it comes to Madonna, she happily welcomes the comparisons. She admits that she wanted to mirror the success of the singer at the start of her career. "Madonna. No question. She is an amazing entertainer. Besides Madonna, I also admire Sarah Jessica Parker's career and her shoe collection,” she said.
While Spears will turn 30 this year, she isn’t worried. "I'm excited to be out of my 20s," she said. "When it's time to pull and tuck, I'm sure I will consider it."

Think you know everything there is to know about the cover star of our first-ever Ladies We Love issue? Think again.
Mon Mar 07 2011

On the eve of the release of her seventh studio album, Femme Fatale, we fired Britney a slew of questions ranging from the candid to the ridiculous to find out a little bit more about the woman the world is mistakenly convinced it already has all figured out.

- When you were starting out, whose career did you want to mold yours after?
Madonna. No question. She is an amazing entertainer. Besides Madonna, I also admire Sarah Jessica Parker’s career and her shoe collection.

- Kissing Madonna was…

Le mensonge de Lady Gaga: Madonna ne lui a rien envoyé.

Le mensonge de Lady Gaga : Madonna ne lui a rien envoyé
Le Jeudi 17 Février 2011 - 18:00
M-A.K.

The Post's totally superfluous Page Six Magazine comes out tomorrow with a cover story about Madonna's former boytoy Jesus Luz. The problem is no one wants to hear him talk. And when he does, he sounds like a fool.
Luz, the once and future Brazilian model that Madonna met on a photo shoot, has never been that interesting of a character. Basically he was a really good-looking prop for the gristle-armed Material Girl to twirl around with her on paparazzi stops, proving to the world that she could still attract the hottest Latinos on the planet. During their months-long courtship we never really cared who this person actually was, we just wanted to make "Madonna and Child" jokes and stare at his preternaturally flat stomach and dreamy eyes. We certainly never wanted to learn about his life, musical ambitions, or anything he had to say.
But where the New York Times failed to find anything interesting when he was at the height of his fame Page Six thinks they can dredge up some dirt long after he broke up with Madonna and passed his expiration date. What did they get out of him?

Well, he talks about his tattoo:
"About four years ago, I passed a tattoo shop and decided to do something spontaneous. I wanted something connected to my name but not necessarily about me as the focus. Yes, it is my name, but it has a double meaning. ‘Jesus' means just that. And the Portuguese word ‘Luz' is my family name, but it also means ‘light.' Also it is significant in reminding me that some force is watching over me."

Ugh, positively boring. He talks about his favorite things:
"Food, friends, music...and good sex."

Did he get that answer from the Dilettante's Guide to Platitudinous Answers? He talks about his professional life:
"Nothing was ever handed to me. Even through my many connections, I still had to jump through lots of hoops to book jobs and to get to where I am now."

Does he really want us to think that he's not getting hired because of people he met when schtupping Madonna or who saw him because of his connection with Madge? Really? Even Rachel Uchitel knows we only care about her when she's talking about Tiger Woods. Finally he talks about his favorite song:
"My favorite dance song of all time is the Benny Benassi remix of Madonna's ‘Celebration.' It definitely gets the party hyped."

Obviously he picked a tune by his former paramour. It's like a model saying her favorite designer is the one that she's currently wearing. Also, it's probably just a coincidence that he happens to be in the video for the song. He's still under the thrall of his ex, who plucked him out of obscurity, made him into a semi-household name, gave him a DJ career so he'd have something to fall back on, and then sent him off into the great wide world. He's right to be thankful and say nice things about her.
Both Jesus and Page Six are both under the illusion that we actually care about him. We do not. We only care about Madonna and so we only care about Jesus because of his access to her. There is only one interview we're interested in: the one where he trashes Madonna. If he's not talking about how she's obsessed with Kabbalah, awful to her staff, a horror to be around, and has nasty yellow toenails that would scratch him up when they were sleeping together, then he's wasting our time. Until you're ready to give that interview, Jesus—and we give him three years, tops—you're welcome to stand around and look pretty (preferably naked), but please do everyone a favor and keep your mouth shut.

Jesus Luz Talks Life After Madonna With Page Six Magazine
December 1st, 2010 by Castina

Jesus Luz — Madonna’s 24-year-old ex — is all wet and talking life after love with the Material Cougar on the pages of the new issue of Page Six Magazine.
The Brazilian Luz sizzles in a red-hot, briefs-style bathing suit as he chats about hitting the dating scene in Manhattan, where he moved six years ago to pursue his dreams of DJ, modeling, and bedding aging pop stars. (Not necessarily in that order…)
There are many beautiful women in New York City. It’s cool because there is such a mixture of ethnicities and cultures,” says a heavily-accented Jesus.
But it’s not all about dating and partying for the former Mr. Madonna, who began dating the “Like a Virgin” singer after the met on the set of a W Magazine photoshoot in 2008.
Of course, I want to be married and have children at some point in my life,” he adds.
Without directly referring to Madonna, Jesus cites “food, friends, music . . . and good sex” among the things that make him happy.

The Material Girl is missing out.
Jesus Luz, Madonna's ex-boyfriend, shows off his beach bod in a red-hot, briefs-style bathing suit for Page Six Magazine – despite dipping temperatures.
He may be back on the market, but the Brazilian model, 24, says he doesn't plan on keeping his bachelor status forever.
"I want to be married and have children at some point in my life," he says.
But for now, he's prowling the dating scene in Manhattan, where he moved to six years ago to learn English. His means of happiness are simple: "food, friends, music … and good sex."
"There are many beautiful women in New York City," he says. "It's cool because there is such a mixture of ethnicities and cultures."

Jesus Luz, a water lover shown here indulging himself in the pool of New York's Grace Hotel, says he's fully back on the dating scene after splitting with Madonna. The 24-year-old model and deejay tells Page Six Magazine, inside tomorrow's New York Post, "There are many beautiful women in New York City. It's cool because there is such a mixture of ethnicities and cultures." Luz continued, "Of course, I want to be married and have children at some point in my life." Without directly referring to Madonna, he said what makes him happy is "food, friends, music . . . and good sex."
