Soundtrack Includes Golden Globe Award Winning Madonna Song "Masterpiece"

NEW YORK, Jan. 23, 2012 - The Golden Globe nominated music from Madonna's upcoming film W.E. composed, orchestrated and produced by Abel Korzeniowski , which also includes Madonna's Golden Globe award winning song "Masterpiece", is scheduled to be released digitally on Interscope Records on January 31st, it was announced today. W.E. which was directed, co-written and produced by Madonna and distributed by The Weinstein Company is scheduled to be released in February.
The score was recorded in April 2011 at the famed Abbey Road Studios in London with a 60-piece orchestra conducted by Terry Davies including piano, violin and viola solos.
The Polish born Los Angeles based Korzeniowski previously wrote the original score for the Tom Ford film A Single Man for which he also received a Golden Globe nomination.
"The prevailing sense of obsession was what inspired me in W.E. -- the irrational compulsion to sacrifice everything and anything for love - a love that could easily be just an illusion. In my music, I wanted to reflect those powerful and conflicting emotions through a web of melodic themes, which relentlessly repeat and constantly swing between despair and sorrow, and hope and joy," commented Korzeniowski.
"W.E." tells the story of American divorcee Wallis Simpson (Andrea Riseborough) and England's King Edward (James D'Arcy) who abdicated his thrown to be with the woman he loved. It is considered one of the greatest love stories of the 20th century. The story is told through the eyes of a modern day New Yorker Wally Winthrop (Abby Cornish). Composer Korzeniowski masterfully and seamlessly bridged the two unique worlds of Europe in the 30's and 40's and the contemporary Manhattan environment of a woman lost in her dreams of the perfect love.
In addition to Korzeniowski's magnificent score, the soundtrack includes the original song "Masterpiece" composed by Madonna, Julie Frost and Jimmy Harry and sung by Madonna which is played during the end credits of the film. It will also be included on Madonna's upcoming solo album for Interscope, MDNA, which is scheduled for release this spring.

MADONNA is courting controversy again after christening her new album MDNA.
The title is supposed to be abbreviation of the 53-year-old’s name but also sounds uncannily familiar to powdered form of recreational drug ecstacy.
Madonna said of the record, due in March: “It will be called MDNA, unless I change my mind.” Brit producer William Orbit, 55, has contributed, as have MIA, 36, and Nicki Minaj, 29.

Alors choix délibéré ou pas? Madonna a-t-elle intentionnellement dénommé son album MDNA pour évoquer le nom de l'amphétamine et sous-entendre que son album va créer une dépendance?

Madonna has been criticised by anti-drug campaigners over her decision to title her new studio album 'MDNA'.
The singer revealed the title of her 12th studio album during a pre-recorded interview with Graham Norton for his BBC1 show yesterday (January 11) and has said it will be released on March 12.
Though the album title is an abbreviation of Madonna's name, it also bears resemblance to the name of Class A drug MDMA and for this reason it has been criticised by anti-drug campaigners.
Lucy Dawe, a spokesperson for the campaign group Cannabis Skunk Sense told The Sun that Madonna's choice of album title was "an ill advised decision".
Madonna will release the album's first single "Gimme All Your Luvin" in the last week of January, shortly before she takes to the stage to perform during the half-time show of Super Bowl XLVI on February 5. The track, which was leaked on to the internet last year, features appearances from both Nicki Minaj and MIA.
The album is Madonna's first since 2008's 'Hard Candy' and has been produced by William Orbit and Martin Solveig.

Madonna’s highly anticipated new album is due to be released in March of 2012, but Allie Is Wired has the official title and track listing for the album!
The title for the new album will be… “LUV”!
Below is the official track listing which features fourteen songs including the single “Gimme All Your Luvin” featuring Nicki Minaj and M.I.A.
The image is part of a global online social networking campaign that will be engaging all you Madonna fans out there to unlock certain goals to release information about the new album (album cover art, first single, etc.).
This is all very exciting information, but it gets better.
According to an insider, recording has finished and the album is in the mixing stage of production.
The whole Madonna brand and website will undergo a total overhaul to usher in the new “LUV” era!
The new branding will begin after Madonna’s Superbowl performance.
Details on the new album are on lock down at the moment; recently a man was arrested for leaking the demo version of the track “Give Me All Your Luvin.”
The 31-year-old man was taken into custody and charged with theft.

Madonna started 1984 a disco chick with a reasonably well-received debut album to her name. Then she released Like a Virgin. Although it also combined nightclub-friendly beats with catchy melodies, its tone was dramatically different. On the cover: a picture of the singer wearing a belt with the contentious slogan "Boy Toy". Inside: a handful of songs that set her apart from every female singer who had come before. One was Material Girl, which boldly stated that, in her world, love came a distant second to money; another was the title track, which, in the context of a euphoric love song, confidently referred to her sexual history, something mainstream pop girls simply hadn't done before.
A woman in control of her sex life and career was such a new idea that Madonna became the biggest thing to hit pop, and popular culture, in years. And she's stayed that way: her influence on the way women came to view sex, love and themselves was so great that some universities offered courses in Madonna studies. And she's also continued to make some of pop's most enduring singles.

There are some albums that pop up on your shuffle playlist and you never get sick of them, no matter what. Madonna's True Blue happens to be one of those records for us here at Buzzworthy, and it turns out we're not the only ones that feel that way. Indie label Paper Bag Records has released a Madonna tribute album featuring several of the label's artists covering each song from Madonna's hit 1986 record. And it's free!
Electro-pop duo Woodhands start off the record with a synth-y cover of "Papa Don't Preach," and Canadian singer/songwriter Laura Barrett's vocals on "La Isla Bonita" take the original tropical dance jam in a much more haunting direction. But it's indie-pop foursome Winter Gloves' cover of the album's title track, "True Blue," that wins. Guest singer Hannah Georgas' vocals are refreshingly light, and (surprise!) there's a sax breakdown!!!
This True Blue (along with Madonna's original, obviously) is definitely an album to keep front and center in your arsenal. It says, "I appreciate classic pop music," while also saying, "I got this lamp at Urban Outfitters." Madonna tracks + indie cred? There's your ticket to nabbing your next girlfriend, fellas. You're welcome.

Madonna's 'True Blue' Album Gets Covered by PS I Love You, Young Galaxy and More

PS I Love You, Young Galaxy, Winter Gloves and You Say Party! are some of the acts appearing on 'True Blue,' a free digital covers album of Madonna's 1986 smash album released this week through Paper Bag Records.
PS I Love You's Paul Saulnier says the band's version of 'Where's the Party?' seemed like a natural fit and they "jumped at the opportunity to contribute to this project."
"I have loved this song since I was a kid and I think it sums up my attitude towards partying and like, wondering where the party is and could possibly be," Saulnier tells Spinner. "Remember, no matter how s----y life can get, you have to keep asking, 'Where's the Party?'"
Paper Bag Records announced Sunday via Twitter of a "Post-Record Store Day gift for y'all..." The album celebrates the Canadian label's eighth anniversary.
Young Galaxy's Stephen Ramsay said Paper Bag Records' Trevor Larocque contacted the Montreal group not long after signing them with the idea of covering a song. The band said they immediately went with 'Open Your Heart.'
"I think we were the first ones he asked because we had our choice of any song off the album," Ramsay tells Spinner, adding he's more of "a Jellybean Benitez, early period Madge kind of guy" compared to 'True Blue' era Madonna.
"For this one, we thought it might be interesting to marry Madge to Krautrock -- the sounds we used on the cover were purposefully reminiscent of Kraftwerk's 'Neon Lights' -- to make it sound like the soundtrack to a retro-futuristic, coldly-lit midnight autobahn drive," Ramsay adds. "And the lyrics 'Open your heart with a key' -- we imagined Catherine [McCandless] singing it as Robot Madonna!
"In the end, we realized this song was actually about a love affair between two robots, which makes perfect sense, because Madonna was married to Sean Penn at the time 'True Blue' came out [laughs]."
Listeners have the option of listening to the album via Soundcloud or can download the record free of charge from Paper Bag Record's site. Songs covered include 'Open Your Heart' by Young Galaxy, 'Live to Tell' (We're Scared Version) by the Rural Alberta Advantage and 'Papa Don't Preach' by Woodhands, with the title track coming courtesy of Winter Gloves featuring Hannah Georgas.
"I was psyched to get on board," Winter Gloves singer Charles F. tells Spinner. "I thought of Hannah right away. She was playing Osheaga [Festival] that day -- so I picked her up to record the vocals that night at my studio. We had no idea what we were doing."
Meanwhile, Born Ruffians' Luke Lalonde says his band was left with 'Jimmy Jimmy' as all the other songs had been taken. As a result, the band seemed to glam their version up a bit.
"I'd never heard the song and when I listened, I knew we couldn't do anything along the lines of a conventional cover without it being a complete joke," he tells Spinner. "I decided to combine another song's feeling and emotion with it. Something truly cool to bring the Madonna song back down to earth a bit. I took the groove from a T.Rex song and started to play Madonna over it at home and, voila!"
There's no word if any videos for these songs are in the cards or if Danny Aiello was asked to revisit his role as the papa in the video for 'Papa Don't Preach.' However having Woodhands' singer Dan Werb explaining to a 77-year-old actor why he's keeping his baby might just be a tad creepy -- landing Christopher Walken for 'Live to Tell' with the Rural Alberta Advantage seems a much better and more plausible option.
"All these songs are brand new and super fun, we hope you enjoy it," the label said on the Soundcloud link.
