It’s her 52nd birthday on August 16, and this year the Material Girl thought she would dress up ‘Indian’ for her birthday party.
So, model boyfriend Jesus Luz secretly got in touch with Mumbai designers Shane and Falguni Peacock and has planned a surprise for Madonna.
A short black and gold number with leather chains and sequin work is what the designer duo have come up with for the pop diva. “There’s delicate work of chantilly lace with black crystals and lots of gold studs in it. We’ve created a gold-tinged metal plate almost like a delicate armour on the bustline to add to the drama,” revealed Falguni.
How they got Madonna’s measurements for the ensemble, the designers are not saying. Perhaps Jesus Luz thoughtfully provided them. They admit that Madonna’s stylist tipped them off that black was the singer’s favourite colour. For the rest of their inspiration, the Mumbai designers did research on Madonna’s tastes and fashion sensibilities. “She is a designer herself, so we didn’t want any faux pas,” said Shane.
Meanwhile, there are rumours that Madonna and Jesus Luz may visit Udaipur later this year. The singer loves India. She was in Mumbai in January 2008 with ex-husband Guy Ritchie, when she visited the Keneseth Eliyahoo Synagogue in Kalaghoda and feasted off the city’s famous eat streets.
