In 2006 Madonna co-founded Raising Malawi to bring an end to the extreme poverty and hardship endured by Malawi's 2,000,000 orphans and vulnerable children -once and for all. Raising Malawi provides financial and other assistance to nongovernmental and community based organizations working in health, education, nutrition, water and sanitation, economic sustainability, psychosocial support, and child advocacy. Raising Malawi collaborates with a vast range of partners to ensure that dedicated people on the ground and in the villages are able to bring Malawians the help they need.
Raising Malawi is now developing an all-girls secondary boarding school (Raising Malawi Academy for Girls) in Lilongwe, Malawi that will provide a high-quality education for girls from impoverished backgrounds and prepare them for high-level education and professional careers. The Academy, therefore, seeks to provide a model of relevant and effective education in Malawi while advancing gender equality and women's empowerment.
We are, therefore, searching for a qualified candidate living or willing to live within Lilongwe for a long term position. The successful candidate will work under, and report to, the Chief Executive Officer and will be expected to participate in various aspects of the Academy's operations. Raising Malawi Academy for Girls will provide a competitive salary and benefit package to attract the best possible candidate.

Qualifications and Experience:
Minimum of Masters Degree required; at least five years of significant administrative experience as Headmaster/Headmistress or Assistant Headmaster/Headmistress; proven record of academic and executive leadership; a demonstrated ability to serve as Chief Operating Officer during construction of a school ensuring that it is built on time and on budget; a demonstrated ability to assume a leadership role in the identification and hiring of qualified administrators, teachers and staff; knowledge of trends and issues in education with an understanding and commitment to the teaching/learning process; ability to thrive in a dynamic, evolving environment and, in collaboration with the Head of Academy, lead, prioritize, manage, and implement change; successful team builder with ability to develop strong interpersonal relationships that include diplomatic, analytical, and decision-making processes; highly effective, communication skills - both oral and written; executive competence in planning, resource management and the funding priorities for the creation/building of a new institution; a demonstrated commitment and ability to work successfully with persons of diverse backgrounds; knowledge of technology and how it impacts teaching and learning.

Pre-construction Responsibilities: assumption ofthe role of CEO in her absence; supervision of all aspects of construction of the new school; and ensuring that the construction of the school occurs on time and on budget.

Post-construction Responsibilities: in conjunction with the CEO, post-construction job responsibilities will be determined within 3 months prior to the opening of the school andwill include the supervision of Deputy Heads.

The Deputy Head - Academic will backstop in all matters relating to the academic affairs of the Academy. He or she will be responsible for the professional provision of leadership to the curriculum and instructional team for the research, development, implementation, and evaluation of innovative curriculum and instructional services, including technology integration.
