Madonna’s moving back to Britain
London calling to Madge
Published: 23/03/2010
Holiday is over ... Queen of pop's on her way
Madonna
is moving back to London after rekindling her love for Britain.
It's less than a year since her Madgesty stuffed her leotards and conical bras in a bag and returned to New York while in a strop about her marriage to Guy Ritchie going pear-shaped.
But she has rediscovered her passion for all things British while preparing to direct her new film W.E. all about the 1930s tale of EDWARD VIII abdicating the throne to marry his forbidden lover, American divorcee Wallis Simpson.
And that means Madge is on her way to take her throne in Marylebone for a six-month spell this summer.
That might sound like bad news for Guy, but far from it.
He is absolutely delighted because he will be able to see his nippers Rocco and David Banda almost every day.
A source said: "The Big Apple hasn't gone sour. M has just rediscovered her interest in Britain.
"She still owns her place in Marylebone and will be moving back there.
Scandal
"She's going to be filming her new movie about Wallis Simpson in London so it made sense for her to move back.
She has surrounded herself in the history of the great Royal scandal and that has played a part in stoking her love of all things British once again
.
"Guy is hoping the move will be permanent for his sake with the kids, though he isn't holding out much hope.
"He is desperate to get the kids over here and be able to see them more often. Rocco is so excited about it, although Lourdes is already working out how she can stay in New York."
By the time Madonna and Guy's marriage was on the rocks she was pretty sick of all things British. Guy's love of the Punchbowl boozer and spending time with the lads drove her to distraction.
But the romantic 1936 story of Edward VIII and Wallis is her new obsession.
Ewan McGregor has been cast as the monarch and the project is now full steam ahead.
Filming is expected to start in a couple of months.
My fellow Scot is a brave boy for getting involved.
Madge is the Bernard Matthews of the film industry: Very good at producing turkeys.

Madonna
is moving back to London for six months.
The pop icon returned to her native America a year ago, following the end of her marriage to Guy Ritchie. Although she lived in New York she kept the home she owned in the upmarket area of Marylebone, and has now decided to return to it for a prolonged stint in the UK this summer.
Madonna is currently preparing to direct a movie about American divorcee Wallis Simpson. British monarch Edward VIII abdicated the throne so he could marry Wallis in the 1930s. She has been researching the story thoroughly, and it has made her realise how much she misses living in the UK.
The Big Apple hasn't gone sour. Madonna has just rediscovered her interest in Britain. Guy is said to be thrilled his ex-wife is returning to Britain. He was devastated when she moved to America as it meant he would see less of the three children they raised together – Madonna’s daughter Lourdes, 13, from a previous relationship, their nine-year-old son Rocco and adopted son David Banda, four.
He is now planning to spend as much time as possible with the kids over the summer, and is even hoping to convince Madonna to make the move permanent.
