Madonna's London home was broken into by a stalker who had travelled all the way from Poland.
Grzegorz Matlok used a rope to climb onto a balcony before smashing a window, a court heard.
The 29-year-old allegedly hid in a cupboard while security guards searched the £10million property and then was said to have spent time in Madonna’s bedroom before a neighbour called the police.
Matlok believed he was in a relationship with Madge and had been deported to Poland following a similar incident last year in which he tried on clothes belonging to the singer’s ex- husband Guy Ritchie, 46, the court was told.
Punal Chopra, prosecuting, said: “Mr Matlok, as he explained in his interview, has initially rung the doorbell, it has not been answered, so he climbed onto the balcony using a rope he brought with him.
“He entered bedrooms and bedclothes have been disturbed, particularly the bed belonging to the artist.
“He explained to police he had travelled from Poland with the specific intention of meeting the artist known as Madonna who he believes he is in an intimate relationship with.”
Madge, 52, is believed to be in America with her children. Her two adjoining town houses in posh Marylebone, central London, were empty when Matlock arrived.
John Bentley, defending, told Westminster magistrates: “There is a suggestion in the prosecution papers that there is history of mental health problems, including an admission to hospital in the recent past.”
The hearing was adjourned while psychiatric reports are prepared. Matlok, whose previous offence was at a house owned by the singer in Yorkshire, was remanded in custody for alleged burglary.
