Madonna's new film will get its world premiere at the Venice Film Festival.
The 52-year-old singer has directed new movie 'W.E.' - a two-tier tale about Britain's King Edward VIII's relationship with American Wallis Simpson and a modern story regarding a woman called Wally Simpson - and the full feature will be shown to critics and audiences at the Venice Lido during the September event.
The film stars Abbie Cornish, Andrea Riseborough and Laurence Fox, while 14-year-old daughter Lourdes has been given a cameo role.
All the stars are expected to descend on the Italian city for the premiere, according to The Daily Mail.
Madonna - whose only other directing credit is 2008's 'Filth and Wisdom', which starred Richard E. Grant and Eugene Hutz - showed a few scenes from the film at last month's Berlin Film Festival in a bid to pick up distributors.
Last year, Madonna said she had put her music career on hold so she could concentrate on her family life and the movie.
The mother-of-four said: "I haven't really been focused as much as I should be on the music part of my career, because the movie has consumed every inch of me.
"Between that and my four children, I don't have the time or energy for anything else."

Don't menace Venice, Madge

The fragile ecosystem in Venice could well be upended when Madonna and her movie interpretation of the abdication crisis hits the city’s film festival in the autumn.
Madonna and her entourage will head to the Venice Lido in September for the world premiere screening of W.E., which stars Andrea Riseborough and Abbie Cornish playing, respectively, Wallis Simpson and Wally Winthrop, a contemporary woman obsessed with Mrs Simpson’s travails.
The singer was at the Berlin Film Festival last month showing a few scenes to various distributors. Optimum Releasing picked up the UK rights. But Madonna will show the full feature to critics and audiences at Venice.
Although she drove the crew nuts with her micro-management, I’m hearing the film might be OK, but I haven’t seen any footage myself.
Also, her cast seem devoted to her and won’t hear a bad word against her — they’ve all converted to the church of Madonna. Let’s hope their faith is deserved.
The movie also stars Oscar Isaac, James D’Arcy, Laurence Fox, Natalie Dormer — and a lot of pugs.
I’m hearing Gucci is planning on throwing some big shindig to coincide with the gala in Venice. I have no idea if W.E. has the calibre of the Oscar and BAFTA award-winning The King’s Speech (I somehow doubt it, but who knows?), but I’m sensing the whole thing’s going to be one helluva laugh and a shout.
The film will also screen at the Toronto International Film Festival after Venice. Selectors from both festivals — Venice and Toronto — will view a finished copy of the movie before an official announcement is made.
