Victoria and David Beckham, Guy Ritchie get royal wedding invites
By Liz Kelly Nelson
April 11, 2011 9:16 AM ET
The U.K.'s Daily Mail apparently got a hold of a copy of the royal wedding guest list, so we've got a peek at the alleged invitees to the April 29
nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton.
As expected, the pews will be burgeoning with dukes, duchesses, counts, viscounts and the like. But -- if the list is correct -- only a few big-name royal pals will be squeezing with the landed
nobility, Eton pals and friends of the couple.
According to the Daily Mail, Victoria and David Beckham, Guy Ritchie and comedian Rowan Atkinson (aka Mr.
Bean) made the cut. No other celebrities are named in the article -- not even honorary Anglos Gwyneth Paltrow or Madonna.
Kate and Wills have also apparently arranged for a nighclub to be set up in Buckingham Palace after the wedding and official reception events.

Guy Ritchie’s £6m house squatted
Tuesday February 15,2011
By Mark Reynolds and Natalie Chalk
SQUATTERS have taken over a £6million mansion belonging to film-maker Guy Ritchie – and vow to open it as a “free”
school.
It is thought 12 people occupied the impressive Grade I-listed house in London’s upmarket Fitzroy Square at the weekend.
The group – calling itself the Really Free School – claims it now plans to convert the house.
Mr Ritchie, 42 – Madonna’s former husband – has so far declined to comment.
The move is the latest in a string of similar “take-overs” of wealthy properties in the capital. It could take Mr Ritchie a year to get the squatters
evicted.
Police were called after they moved in. But so far those inside have refused to leave. Yesterday they placed banners in the window reading “resist” and
“occupy”.
They also boasted of the law being on their side, putting a letter in the window threatening to prosecute anyone who tried to illegally remove them.
One neighbour said: “They seem very cocky and to be here for the long haul.”
The Lock Stock And Two Smoking Barrels director bought the adjoining properties in May last year.
It is believed he wants to convert the former language school into two homes.
A source at the building contractor refurbishing the house for Mr Ritchie said: “It’s a real cheek. This property has not been
empty. We’ve had workmen and designers in there as recently as Friday. It’s not safe to be in at all.”
The squatters moved out of a house in nearby Bloomsbury Square, before announcing plans to move on their website and on Twitter. At around 9am yesterday several
squatters – some wearing masks – ran out of the house, refusing to answer questions. The rest of the day, they came in and out without passing comment.
Squatting has become a growing problem in London. The one-time Mexican Embassy in Mayfair and former £4million Belgravia home
of former Home Secretary David Blunkett have also been occupied.
OWNERS CAN’T FORCE THEIR WAY BACK IN
LEGALLY, it is incredibly difficult to get rid of squatters.
Squatting is not a criminal offence, although it is illegal to break in by causing damage and there are a few other circumstances in which squatters can be prosecuted.
Owners are not so lucky. It is illegal for them to force their way back in. They have to get a court order to evict.
And Daily Express columnist and former Tory MP Ann Widdecombe said: “The police are far too
ineffective.”

MADONNA IN HOT WATER OVER HER DAUGHTER
February 8, 201
The Material Girl singer faces legal action from her adopted daughter’s Malawian relatives.
Madonna is facing legal action from her adopted daughter Mercy James’ Malawian relatives, who allege the singer broke a promise to allow them regular contact with the little girl. James’ family claims they have not seen the youngster since the 2009 adoption, despite Madonna allegedly vowing to visit. Now they have turned to legal experts at Malawi's Civil Liberties Committee (CILIC) to help them get closer to Mercy James. CILIC Director Emmie Chanika explains, “Mercy’s family have met me several times over the past year and they have been very upset. They have a strong recollection of being told that they would be able to see Mercy and have regular contact with her … I am preparing a letter which will appeal to Madonna’s lawyer Alan Chinula to intervene on the family’s behalf and ask Madonna to kindly let Mercy meet her family. None of us desires an embarrassing and expensive court case which could humiliate or inconvenience Madonna. The best outcome would be a proper agreement.” —
