Roger Waters, Bruce Springsteen, Madonna, Coldplay, Kenny Chesney Among 2012 Billboard Touring Awards Finalists
Octobre 30, 2012 | By Ray Waddell, Nashville

Finalists for the 2012 Billboard Touring Awards boast a diverse mix of genres, touring strategies, venue types, and positions on the career arc and their broad geographic footprint points to the increasingly global nature of the touring industry.
Among the finalists are mega-tours by such veteran artists as Roger Waters, Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band, Madonna, Coldplay and Kenny Chesney, along with newer stars like Jason Aldean, Miranda Lambert, Lady Antebellum, the Black Keys and Taylor Swift.

The exceptions would be such honors as Legend Of Live (Neil Diamond), the Concert Marketing & Promotion Award, the Humanitarian Award (the Apollo Theater), the Road Warrior Award presented by Shell ROTELLA, and the Creative Content Award (Michael Jackson Immortal by Cirque du Soleil), as well as the Eventful Fans' Choice Award, the latter determined by online fan "demands" at Eventful.com for Boxscore's top tours.
The awards are based on numbers reported to Boxscore from Oct. 1, 2011, through Sept. 30, 2012.
The finalists for the Top Tour, based on Boxscore gross, are Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band's Wrecking Ball tour, Madonna's MDNA tour and Roger Waters' The Wall Live tour.

Le mari d'Elton John s'excuse auprès de Madonna sur Facebook.

From AceShowbiz:

Elton John's Husband Apologizes for Blasting Madonna's Win at Golden Globes
January 20, 2012 06:48:43 GMT

Before praising Madge as 'a great artist', David Furnish explains on Facebook that his comment on her Best Song win at the 2012 Golden Globe Awards was 'blown way out proportion'.
Elton John's husband has apologized to Madonna for commenting that the Queen of Pop didn't deserve to win the Best Song award at the 2012 Golden Globe Awards. Taking to his Facebook account to clear out any misunderstanding, David Furnish explained that he never meant to offend the Material Girl.
"Wow! What a tempest in a teapot," the 49-year-old filmmaker wrote Thursday, January 19. "My comments regarding The Golden Globes have been blown way out of proportion. My passion for our film 'Gnomeo and Juliet' and belief in Elton's song really got my emotional juices going."
Furnish then stated that Madonna deserved the prize and that he had no hard feelings toward the pop star. He wrote, "But I must say for the record that I do believe Madonna is a great artist, and that Elton and I wish her all the best for next week's premiere of the film 'W.E.'."
Both Elton and Madonna were nominated for the Best Original Song at this year's Golden Globes. The former was nominated for his song "Hello Hello" in animation film "Gnomeo and Juliet", but it was the latter who took home the prize thanks to her single "Masterpiece" from her directorial drama "W.E.".
Shortly after Madge won the award, Furnish vented his anger on Facebook as writing, "Madonna. Best song???? F*** off!!!." He went on ranting, "Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in its narcissism. And her criticism of [Lady] GaGa shows how desperate she really is."
During a backstage interview at the prestigious prize-giving show, Madge told reporters that she hopes there will be no hard feelings between her and the veteran British musician. "I hope he speaks to me for the next couple of years," she said. "He's been known to get mad at me so I don't know. He's brilliant and I adore him so he'll win another award. I don't feel bad!"

From Mirror:

Elton John's husband apologises to Madonna on Facebook
By Caroline Corcoran 20/01/2012

CELEBRITY OLIVE BRANCH ALERT. David Furnish has apologised to Madonna on Facebook (clearly not realising that all the celebs live out their feuds on Twitter these days - see Natasha Giggs for more info), saying their fallout over The Golden Globes was a 'tempest in a teapot'.
"My comments regarding The Golden Globes have been blown way out of proportion," he typed. "My passion for our film "Gnomeo & Juliet" and belief in Elton's song really got myemotional juices going. But I must say for the record that I do believe Madonna is a great artist, and that Elton and I wish her all the best for next week's premiere of the film W.E."
The row started when Elton - who was nominated for the same award - told reporters that Madonna had 'no f***in' chance' of winning a Golden Globe for Best Song, for her track Masterpiece in her film W.E. So when Madonna actually did win (AWKWARD), David took to his Facebook to show how annoyed he was.
"Best song????" he wrote. "F**k off!!! Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in its narcissism."
Meanwhile Elton was pictured doing a bad job of a gracious face as Madonna picked up the award.
He was then quoted by The New York Post as saying: "Did Madonna get the Golden Globe because she attended the awards and agreed to be a presenter?
"It's a song nobody has heard, from a film few have seen. The award should have gone to Mary J Blige or Elton. I like Madonna's music but not her movies. She should stick to what she's good at.
But now David appears to have calmed down/ decided he might want to pop along to a Madonna concert and not get a punch some time in the future. So will Madonna accept the apology? Go on Madge, your turn...

From Celebrity-gossip:

Madonna's Eventful Golden Globe Experience
Posted Monday January 16, 2012 3:16 PM GMT

She has always been a fan of glitzy fetes, and last night (January 15) Madonna was seen having a blast at the Weinstein Company’s 2012 Golden Globes After Party.
The “Material Girl” songstress showed up at the Beverly HIlton Hotel to chat with editor Joanna Coles and actress Andrea Risenborough.
Earlier in the evening, Madge stopped on the red carpet to talk to Sharon Osbourne and Mark Steines of Entertainment Tonight.
Osbourne confessed, “Look at who I am stood with. I’m all a quiver,” and Madonna fired back, “I’m nervous. This is the first unveiling of my film... and my score and my song is nominated and I don’t know. I have butterflies in my stomach.”

La co-auteur de Madonna, Julie Frost, sur le fait de gagner un Golden Globe.

From Julie Frost:

Highlight: Jimmy Harry
HIghlight: winning a Golden Globe along side the amazing Jimmy Harry, who is EXTREMELY talented. This song is one of my favorites with or without an award. We were sitting together at a table off to the left of the stage and we kept nudging each other saying..”can you believe we are here? Can you believe it? Moments like that are touchstones… look how far we’ve come. He said he felt so encouraged and validated by the whole thing, just beaming in a way I’ve never seen him beam. I promise you he deserves all of this joy… things like this mean so much to songwriters. Highlight: Seeing Jimmy Harry so happy!!

Golden Globes: Madonna dans une robe prête pour aller à la bataille.

From People:

Madonna’s ‘Battle’-Ready Fashion ‘Secret’
Jan 17 2012 12:00 PM ET
Justine Harman, with reporting by Oliver Jones

At Sunday’s star-studded Golden Globes, Madonna took home the award for best original song, effectively dissed Ricky Gervais and looked majorly glam in second-skin Reem Acra … but her stay-sexy secret is a lot more basic than you’d think.
I’d say my fishnets, but I am not wearing any tonight, so that’s kind of a lie,” she told reporters backstage at the Globes before declaring, “Victoria’s Secret underpants” as her wardrobe necessity. (Tweezers are her travel beauty must, she added.)
Undergarments aside, the Queen of Pop relies on dancing to keep her sinewy body in tip-top shape. “The best thing for your bum is dancing, and I can do plenty of that,” she joked.
Madonna’s take-no-prisoners attitude even affects her styling decisions. “I am wearing a dress by a designer named Reem Acra, and I love it,” she gushed of her bodice-topped gown. “I feel like I am wearing chain mail and I am ready to go to battle.”

Madonna co-writer reacts to Golden Globes win
By Lauren Moraski

(CBS) Julie Frost may not be a household name, but she's one of the songwriters behind Madonna's Golden Globe best original song win.
Frost, a singer-songwriter who resides in Southern California, stood beside the Queen of Pop as she accepted the award for "Masterpiece." The award-winning song plays during the ends credits of Madonna's directional debut, "W.E.," and will also appear on the pop star's upcoming studio album.
"Being acknowledged by the Hollywood Foreign Press amongst a room full of so many people I admire and accepting the award next to Madonna, was such an honor," Frost, who has co-written songs for Beyonce, the Black Eyed Peas and Pitbull, told CBSNews.com.
Frost added, "As Adam Levine and Jimmy Fallon announced the award for best original song, I thought, no matter what happens I'm proud of our song and to be included in the same category as so many of my musical heroes."
"Masterpiece," which was written by Madonna, Frost and songwriter-producer Jimmy Harry, beat out the four other nominees, including Elton John's "Hello Hello" from "Gnomeo & Juliet" and Mary J. Blige's "The Living Proof" from "The Help."
It was Frost's first Golden Globes Awards, and from the sound of it, she had a great time.
"After getting dressed and pampered by stylists and hair and make-up artists, I walked to the limo that was waiting for me, dressed in my gorgeous dress and stunning jewelry and accessories," Frost said. "The magnitude of the evening set in as I waved back at my good friends who were there to see me off."

Madonna Wins Golden Globe, Reznor Leaves Empty-Handed, Elton Leaves Pissed
By Marc Hogan on January 16, 2012 9:31 AM

Madonna is starting off her massive year with a victory. The Queen of Pop, who headlines the Super Bowl halftime show on February 5 and will release 12th album MDNA on March 12, took home the Golden Globe for Best Original Song last night. She nabbed the prize for downtempo love-as-art song "Masterpiece," from the film W.E., which she also directed.
The Material Girl beat out fellow nominees Lady Gaga and Elton John, Chris Cornell, Sinead O'Connor, and Mary J. Blige. After earlier this week describing Gaga's unmistakably Madonna-like "Born This Way" as "interesting," Madonna said of John last night, "I hope he speaks to me for the next million years. He'll win another award, though, so I don't feel bad." John had told red carpet reporters Madge "doesn't have a chance in hell" and looked pretty sour during the ceremony.
The Golden Globe was Madonna's second, following her 1997 win for best actress in a comedy or musical for Evita. Her "Masterpiece," won't be competing for an Oscar, however — the song failed to make the Academy Awards shortlist for best original song due to a technicality. Which means she won't be able to show off her dissing superpowers on Hollywood's biggest night (when presenting last night's award for best foreign language film, she told host Ricky Gervais, "If I'm still just like a virgin, Ricky, then why don't you come over here and do something about it," adding, in the latest somewhat unfortunate reference to her one-time escapade with Britney Spears and Christina Aguilera at MTV's Video Music Awards, "I haven't kissed a girl in a few years — on TV.")
Another celebrated recording artist who has been making waves in the film world recently went home empty-handed. Trent Reznor, whose work with musical partner Atticus Ross for The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo was up for best original score, lost out to France's Ludovic Bource for The Artist. Reznor and Ross won the Golden Globe and the Oscar last year for their score to The Social Network. Reznor, who recently renewed his past talk about potential new Nine Inch Nails tunes, was quick to make light of the defeat, tweeting, "HOLY SHI (oh, nevermind!)." The Tattoo score is on the shortlist for an Oscar, with the final five nominees for best score to be announced on January 24.

Madonna And Sir Elton In Globes War Of Words
16 January 2012 12:06

Madonna and Sir Elton John became embroiled in a war of words at the Golden Globes on Sunday (15Jan12) as they competed for the coveted Best Song prize.
The Rocket Man started the verbal spat by telling reporters on the red carpet that his rival "doesn't have a f**king chance of winning tonight," and when asked if those were "fighting words," he replied, "No, those are accurate words".
Madonna hit back when questioned about Sir Elton's remarks, asking reporters, "Was he wearing a dress?" adding, "May the best man win."
The Material Girl eventually emerged triumphant as her track Masterpiece from W.E. scooped the award for Best Original Song - Motion Picture, seeing off competition from Sir Elton's Hello, Hello from Gnomeo & Juliet.
And after her success, Madonna offered an olive branch to her rival, telling reporters, "I hope he speaks to me for the next couple of years. He's known to get mad at me. He's brilliant and I adore him, so he will win another award. And I don't feel bad!"

From Billboard:

Elton John's Husband Rips Madonna; Stars Trade Barbs at Globes
by Marc Schneider, N.Y. | January 16, 2012 11:40 EST

The "feud" between Madonna and Elton John may have reached a zenith Sunday night (Jan. 15) at the Golden Globe Awards. Both pop superstars were up for best original song, and traded insults on the red carpet, but after the Material Girl emerged victorious, John's husband David Furnish laced into the Rocket Man's rival for her "embarrassing" and narcissistic acceptance speech.
Madonna Wins Best Original Song at Golden Globes
"Madonna. Best song???? F**k off!!!" Furnish said on Facebook, according to TMZ. "Madonna winning Best Original Song truly shows how these awards have nothing to do with merit. Her acceptance speech was embarrassing in its narcissism."
He also called Madonna's recent criticism of Lady Gaga "desperate."
Furnish may have been referring to several aspects of Madonna's speech, which came after her song "Masterpiece," from her film "W.E.," beat out John's "Hello Hello from "Gnomeo and Juliet."
In her remarks, Madonna deployed her now-familiar slight British accent to tell a story about how her manager, Guy Oseary, pressured her to write a song for the film. "He harangued me for the entire time I was filming and editing my movie to write a song. And I said, 'Please, Guy, I'm trying to focus on being a director and I want people to be able to pay attention to the film. And I don't have time.' So then I finished the film and I started making my record and somehow magically and miraculously the song emerged, 'Masterpiece,' so thank you, Guy Oseary, for being so irritating."
During the speech, in which Madonna corrected her own use of "who" and "whom," a camera panned to an expressionless Elton John.
A request for comment from Madonna's rep was not returned by press time.
Before the night's festivities, Elton told NBC's Carson Daly that Madonna "doesn't have a f***ing chance of winning tonight." After laughing, Daly asked if those were "fighting words" but Elton called them "accurate words."
When Daly told Madonna about Elton's jab, she asked, "Was he wearing a dress?' … adding, "may the best man win."
The "feud" between the pair may have started about seven years ago, when Madonna won best live act at the GQ Awards. His comment, "Madonna, best f**king live act? F*** off!'" bears striking resemblance to Furnish's reported rip at the Globes.
According to Us Weekly, Madonna voiced her hopes backstage that she and Elton could patch things up. "I hope he speaks to me for the next couple of years," she quipped. "He's been known to get mad at me so I don't know. He's brilliant and I adore him so he'll win another award. I don't feel bad!"

Buzziest Moments from the Golden Globes
By Claudine Zap | Coverage of 69th Annual Golden Globes – January 16, 2012

The 69th annual Golden Globe awards show is kind of like the little sister of the award shows. It gets away with a bit more mischief and a lot more fun than its responsible, older sibling, the Academy Awards does later in the year. The Foreign Press Association seems to court controversy, asking back Ricky Gervais to host again this year even after his controversial comments last time around. Here, some of the show's top moments.
Madonna's Racy Comment
Madonna, who got a statue her tune "Masterpiece" from the movie "W.E.," which she also directed, stepped forward to present the award for best foreign film. And that's when things got naughty. Ricky Gervais started it with this introduction: "She's always vogue. She's a material girl. And she's just like a virgin," he said sarcastically.
Without missing a beat, Madonna stepped up to the mic and delivered this zinger: "If I'm still just like a virgin, Ricky, then why don't you come over here and do something about it? I haven't kissed a girl in a few years … on TV."
Though she was looking back at her onstage kiss with Britney Spears, Madonna's (most likely unintentional) reference to another princess of pop didn't go unnoticed. Moments after Madonna joked about how long it's been since she "kissed a girl," the "I Kissed a Girl" singer herself, Katy Perry, tweeted, "Madge looks goooooood. I'd tap that. #goldenglobes." Oh, it's on!

Madonna Hits Back At Ricky Gervais At Golden Globes
16 January 2012 13:45

It was the successful night for Madonna at Sunday's Golden Globes in Los Angeles (January 15, 2011), with the American pop superstar landing the prize for Best Original Song for W.E's ballad 'Masterpiece'. It was the second Globe for the singer-turned-filmmaker, who won Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical for 'Evita' in 1997.
During her acceptance speech, Madonna thanked her long-time manager Guy Oseary and studio boss Harvey Weinstein, whom she described as "the punisher" and spoke of how he 'believed' in her latest movie. The singer, who releases new album M.D.N.A later this year, was the target for one of host Ricky Gervais' putdowns, but she was quick to offer a retort. When introducing the singer to present the award for Best Foreign Language Film, Gervais joked that she was "a material girl", "always in Vogue" and "Just like a virgin", pulling a 'hard to believe' face after mentioning the latter. When arriving on-stage, Madonna hit back, "If I'm still just like a virgin, Ricky. Then why don't you come over here and do something about it.I haven't kissed a girl in a few years. On TV". Keen to have the last laugh, the British comedian was seen running for his life across the back of the stage.
Madonna's song 'Masterpiece' is a simple ballad, co-written by James Harry, and included on the soundtrack to W.E, which tells the story of King Edward VIII and his relationship with socialite Wallis Simpson. In the category of Best Original Score, Frenchman Ludovic Bource surprisingly beat Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross who were tipped to land the prize for their work on David Fincher's The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.

Madonna gagne un Golden Globe pour "Masterpiece" de "W.E.".

Golden Globe Awards - January 15, 2012

Madonna at the 69th Annual Golden Globe Awards held at The Beverly Hilton Hotel - Press Room Los Angeles, California.

Madonna, Julie Frost and Jimmy Harry won the Golden Globe for best song for "Masterpiece" from the King Edward-Wallis Simpson drama "W.E.", which Madonna also directed.

Best Original Song - Motion Picture
Winner: "Masterpiece" – W.E.
Music & Lyrics By: Madonna, Julie Frost and Jimmy Harry

Madonna said: "This is a surprise. Thank you so much to the Hollywood Foreign Press for this acknowledgement. I need to thank my co-writers, Jimmy Harry and Julie Frost, my co-producer William Orbit, who's not here, whom I adore.
I would also like to thank my manager, Guy Oseary, who I spend most of my time beating up on. But seriously, he harangued me for the entire time I was filming and editing my movie to write a song. And I said, 'Please, Guy, I'm trying to focus on being a director and I want people to pay attention to the film and I don't have time.' So then I finished the film and I started making my record and somehow magically and miraculously the song emerged, 'Masterpiece,' so thank you, Guy Oseary, for being so irritating."

If you were the Mona Lisa
You'd be hanging in the Louvre
Everyone would come to see you
You'd be impossible to move
It seems to me is what you are
A rare and priceless work of art
Stay behind your velvet rope
But I will not renounce all hope

And I'm right by your side
Like a thief in the night
I stand in front of a masterpiece
And I can't tell you why
It hurts so much
To be in love with the masterpiece
Cause after all
Nothing's indestructible

From the moment I first saw you
All the darkness turned to light
An impressionistic painting
Tiny particles of light
It seem to me is what you're like
The "look but please don't touch me" type
And honestly it can't be fun
To always be the chosen one

And I'm right by your side
Like a thief in the night
I stand in front of a masterpiece
And I can't tell you why
It hurts so much
To be in love with a masterpiece
Cause after all
Nothing's indestructible
Nothing's indestructible
Nothing's indestructible
Nothing's indestructible

And I'm right by your side
Like a thief in the night
I stand in front of a masterpiece
And I can't tell you why
It hurts so much
To be in love with a masterpiece

And I'm right by your side
Like a thief in the night
I stand in front of a masterpiece
And I can't tell you why
It hurts so much
To be in love with a masterpiece
Cause after all
Nothing's indestructible
Cause after all
Nothing's indestructible
