MARKUS LUPFER has a new fan in Madonna no less. The singer and style icon chose to wear his spring/summer 2012 intarsia star jumper for the
cover of her new single, Give Me All Your Luvin'.
"It's a star for a star!" he joked. "I think she looks amazing! I was so excited
to see it."
The British designer sent the star's stylist a selection of items from his latest collection, before the singer eventually singled the knit out. Although Lupfer
sadly didn't get to meet Madonna, she couldn't have given her endorsement to a more appreciative recipient.
"Yes, I am a fan - I grew up listening to her music and we have it on in the Studio a lot," he told us. "Lucky Star is my favourite - I love that one!"

Give Me All Your Love
Lady Gaga envoie du Madonna dans un hit dance irrésistible.
By Rito Asilo

With the release of “Born This Way,” the title track from Lady Gaga’s second studio album (due out on March 23), the kooky dance diva with the
outré fashion style has no reason to get, well, poker-faced.
The song is so catchy that even 10-year-old Fil-Canadian Maria Aragon has become a viral YouTube sensation (12 million hits and counting), courtesy of her charming cover of the
biggest dance tune of the season.
Gaga’s latest single immediately made its presence felt when it debuted at No. 1 in eight countries last week and became the fastest-selling single in iTunes history, shipping
one million copies in only five days!
TV series
Is the song really just a knockoff of Madonna’s 1989 hit, “Express Yourself”? It’s hard not to notice the hook-and-rhythm similarities, especially after the cast of
“Glee” recently reintroduced some of the Material Girl’s dance classics to young viewers.
Musically, the anthemic “Born This Way” isn’t an exact replica but a digitized send-up of “Express Yourself”—though apart from the former’s post-rave electronica
sound, its percussive sizzle, familiar licks and rousing choral sequences aren’t all that dissimilar to the latter’s pulsating groove.
In fact, we wouldn’t be surprised to hear a mashup soon of “Born This Way,” “Express Yourself” and, yes, “Vogue,” Madonna’s
first multiplatinum single.
Thematically, both songs have multigenerational appeal: “Express Yourself’s” feminist sensibility prods women to fight for what’s theirs: “You deserve the best in life, so if the time isn’t right, then move on/ Second best is never enough, you’ll do much better on your own/ What you need is a big, strong
hand to lift you to your higher ground/ (And) make you feel like a queen on a throne!”
“Born This Way” resonates among even more rebellious youths, because it tells them to embrace sexual and racial diversity and not apologize for who they are: “There’s nothing wrong with loving who you are/ I’m beautiful in my way, ’cause God makes no mistakes…/ Give yourself prudence/ Rejoice in the truth/ In the religion of
the insecure, I must be myself/ …Don’t be a drag—just be a queen!”
We say, “Amen!”

"Born This Way" de Lady Gaga a des similitudes avec au moins 3 chansons de Madonna.
Sans Gaga, would Gaga be Gaga?
by Ed Biado
Saturday - Sunday, February 26 - 27, 2011
One million legal downloads in five days. If that’s not a feat, I don’t know what is. Everybody has their own opinion to Lady
Gaga’s new single, “Born This Way.” It’s been noted that it has similarities to “When Love Takes Over” (Kelly Rowland),
“Waterfalls” (TLC) and at least three Madonna songs. All the anticipation, all the talk
and the animalistic look that Gaga sported in promoting the single led to the best possible result: a platinum-selling number one hit. Whether you like the theatrical display of
the artist’s “creative embryotic process” or not, it doesn’t matter because the end justified all the means.
What is it with “Born This Way” that merits unprecedented attention? Is it the club-ready beat? The universal message? Or is Gaga simply the most interesting
person in the known world that we have to know what she’s up to at all times?
Packaging has a lot to do with the singer’s success (think Madonna studies). She has an overblown persona. She’s an artistic representation of herself, a
caricature, a character. Yet she maintains that what you see is what you get. That’s hard to believe as common sense will tell you that no one is born with an outrageous idea on how to turn
bubble wrap into a red carpet ensemble. Is Gaga the one exception or is she just a product of an elaborate hoax to con the whole world?
New artists in the recording industry are rarely given the creative freedom to write songs the way they want to. In the earlier phases of an act’s career, 99 percent of the decisions are made by
the record company. The label dictates the kind of songs the artists are “allowed” to sing, how they’re supposed to look like, what they should wear and, in some cases, who they’re supposed to
date. It’s all about packaging.
A couple of examples:
In 2001, Katy Perry released a gospel album that went largely unnoticed. It wasn’t until she “kissed a girl (and liked it)” that people started
listening to her songs. Her efforts following that dealt with sex and sexuality, which, of course, is the most proven selling point. She was repackaged from a sweet teenage girl singing innocent
songs into a sex kitten with random substances coming out of her boobs. Katy’s commercial success is due to packaging.
Meanwhile, in 2004, Kara DioGuardi was a relatively successful, yet relatively unknown, songwriter. At that point, she has written hit singles for major artists.
But of course, people who are not behind the mic remain unidentified by the general public. She forged a musical collaboration with former Eurythmics member Dave
Stewart in the form of the duo, Platinum Weird. A fake history was created for the band to generate buzz.
That marketing strategy didn’t catch on and the project was shelved shortly after. Perhaps, the only notable song to come out of the partnership was “Taking Chances,” which
showcased Kara’s talent as both a songwriter and a vocalist. It would only see the light of day when Celine Dion recorded and released it in
2007. Kara went on with a career in songwriting and eventually served as a judge in American Idol.
Without the hype surrounding Gaga’s public image, without the hermaphrodite rumors years ago, without the Kermit the Frog outfit or the Alexander
McQueen lobster shoes or the meat dress or prosthetic protrusions on her cheekbones and shoulders, would she be as widely recognized as she is today? Would anyone have paid attention to
the Hitchcock references in “Bad Romance” or hum the hooks of her songs?
Would “Born This Way” have sold so many copies so quickly? Or would we even know who Stefani Germanotta is?

Lady Gaga en route pour le hit, avec la bénédiction de Madonna.
Tue Feb 15, 2:28 pm ET
Reporting by Jill Serjeant, editing by Christine Kearney.
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – Lady Gaga's new Madonna-influenced single "Born This Way" is expected to storm the U.S. charts this
week after record-setting radio play and more than 450,000 downloads, music industry sources say.
And the dance single also has the blessing of Madonna, Lady Gaga said.
"Born This Way" -- which fans and music critics have likened to the 1989 Madonna hit "Express Yourself" -- had sold more than 450,000 downloads in the first three days since its release on Friday, Billboard said quoting industry sources.
It also had a record-setting 4,602 radio plays in the United States, according to Nielsen. That should see the single debut at
No.1 when the Billboard Hot 100 charts are released on Wednesday, Billboard said.
Lady Gaga addressed Madonna's influence in an appearance on the "Tonight Show with Jay Leno" on Monday.
"There is really no one that is a more adoring and loving Madonna fan than me. I am the hugest fan personally and professionally,"
the 24-year-old singer told Leno.
"Well, the good news is that I got an e-mail from her people, and her sending me their love and complete support on behalf of the single, and if
the queen says it shall be, then it shall be," she said.
Lady Gaga, who won three Grammys on Sunday after a headline-grabbing entrance encased in a giant egg, will make her concert debut on cable channel
HBO in May.
HBO said on Tuesday that it would tape the singer's Feb 21 and 22 concerts at Madison Square Garden in New York for a May 7
broadcast.
"Born This Way" is the first single from a new Lady Gaga album scheduled for release on May 23.
The singer and performance artist told Leno on Monday that the opaque egg in which she arrived at the Grammys was in fact a
"vessel" and said she had been inside it for three days before her performance on Sunday.

Ryan Tedder: "Born This Way" de Lady Gaga Est "Express Yourself" de Madonna.
Lady Gaga’s ‘Born This Way’ Is Madonna's ‘Express Yourself,’ Says Ryan Tedder
5:48 AM 2/13/2011 by Shirley Halperin
The hit songwriter says if Madonna isn't getting credit on Lady Gaga's new single, someone might want to lawyer up.
OneRepublic frontman and prolific multi-platinum songsmith Ryan Tedder knows a thing or two about publishing credits, having written hits for the likes of
Beyonce (“Halo”), Leona Lewis (“Bleeding Love”) and Jordin Sparks (“Battlefield”). So what
does his expert ear say about Lady Gaga's latest single?
“[Born This Way] is ‘Express Yourself,’” he told THR at the Clive Davis Pre-Grammy gala held on
Saturday night, chiming in on what’s already become a heated debate: did Gaga rip off Madonna for her new single? “Me and my wife drove around today and that song came on KIIS-FM every hour on the hour. We were singing ‘Express Yourself’ over the melody! If I wrote
‘Express Yourself’ and I heard that song, I would be calling my manager five minutes later… If Madonna's not getting credit on it, then I would just say, be careful.”
Gaga’s new song, the title track to her forthcoming album, due out in May, was released on February 11 and produced by Fernando
Garibay, whom Tedder calls a “phenomenal producer” and a friend, which is why he also cautions not to
jump to any conclusions. “Maybe they credited Madonna, honestly,” Tedder said. “It happens. There are a lot of successful hits out there where you read the liner notes and realize there’s a part of another song. Like Daft Punk: as
individual and unique as they are, their four biggest hits are all samples.” (Stefani Germanotta, Gaga’s real name, and Jeppe
Laursen are listed as writers for "Born This Way," according to a review posted on Billboard.com.)
And even if “Born This Way” is somewhat derivative, Tedder adds, it doesn’t diminish his admiration for his labelmate. “I love Gaga, I legitimately do,” he said. “I don't question her individuality or the message
of the song… I'm not gonna say it's not a hit -- it’s catchy! Gaga is Gaga, she could sing happy birthday right now.”

After all the tweets, talk and anticipation, Lady Gaga's first new song in over a year arrived at 6 a.m. this morning -- and if fans were looking for something big, anthemic, positive and global, they weren't the least bit disappointed. "Born This Way" is massive in every way: It's a huge-sounding single with a pulsating beat and a love-yourself message that's bound to pack dancefloors and blast from cars, computers and radios for weeks to come. The song is surprisingly reminiscent of Madonna -- recalling "Express Yourself" in several places and "Vogue" in the spoken bits -- but in the best way possible. "It doesn't matter if you love him or capital H-I-M," Gaga says at the beginning of the song. "Just put your paws up, because you were born this way, baby." The beat then comes crashing in and the song is off to the races, building and releasing tension in its multiple but fluid sections. A collaboration with Fernando Garibay (who co-wrote Gaga's "Dance in the Dark," as well as songs for Britney Spears, Will.i.am and Enrique Iglesias), Jeppe Laursen and DJ White Shadow, the song is a stellar preview for the album of the same name, due May 23.
