Talent agency CAA populates most of film and television with its star clients above and below the line, and managed to coax seemingly all of them to the Soho House in West Hollywood on Friday.
As part of the agency's annual pre-Golden Globes celebration, the whole of the exclusive club was occupied by nominees and their famous cheerleaders. Where to begin? Madonna, Tom Cruise, Cameron Diaz, Reese Witherspoon, Diddy, Michael Fassbender, Leonardo DiCaprio, Bradley Cooper, Jamie Foxx.
And that's to name a few. Some of our favorite scenes from the CAA bash were ...
Girl talk: Madonna sat on the rear patio in a form-fitting red dress and motorcycle gloves with Demi Moore and some agent types, and kept cool as a cucumber when Moore's ex Ashton Kutcher breezed in with his newly shaved face.
Boys club: DiCaprio is still in "Gatsby" mode -- the actor held court F. Scott Fitzgerald style on a side patio with Orlando Bloom for hours, laughing and sharing an electronic cigarette. Bloom's gal Miranda Kerr kept up with them no problem, sipping Grey Goose cocktails and laughing with the boys.
Everyone loves Cameron: Honestly, Diaz was Miss Congeniality. Entering the fete with her "Knight and Day" costar Tom Cruise, Diaz was received with hugs, kisses and squeals by everyone from Witherspoon and Chelsea Handler to Rosie Huntington-Whiteley and Jason Statham. Diddy stuck close to Cammy all evening.
Babysitters Club: Hollywood parents used CAA as the perfect excuse to hit the town, like Witherspoon and her agent husband Jim Toth, Robert Downey Jr. (no sight of pregnant wife Susan) and Robert DeNiro -- who welcomed a baby with Grace Hightower in December.
Also spotted: Axl Rose, Sean Penn, Ryan Kwanten, Alexander Skarsgard, Gerard Butler, Julianne Moore, Jason Bateman, Nick Nolte and couple Salma Hayek and Francois Pinault.

“MADONNA HAS SO MUCH INFLUENCE in every sphere. I think she could kill people just by looking at them.”
We walked by the paparazzi step-and-repeat and down a blue carpet in MoMA’s sculpture garden, passing male models who held umbrellas for guests in case of rain.
She has a lot of restraint, I suggested.
“She’s the only person that would make me pass out if I met them.”
Then: “Madonna, I’d like you to meet Ryan Trecartin! He’s a fabulous artist.”
Ryan Trecartin did not in fact pass out when Klaus Biesenbach introduced him to Madonna, though neither of us was able to muster any words for the occasion. She didn’t have much to say either. She just looked up at us dubiously (murderously?), her weapon eyes framed by black hipster glasses as she chewed on a piece of bread. (LOOKING GOOD! Perez Hilton e-scrawled on the shot-from-the-hip photo he posted the next day.)
Madonna sat next to James Franco, who sat next to Marina Abramovic, who sat next to Terence Koh, who sat next to Lizzie Fitch at a small table that also included Trecartin, Spike Jonze, Guy Oseary, Daphne Guinness, Martha Wainwright, and professional crier Laurel Nakadate.
I sat at the next table, squeezed between MoMA PS1 curator Peter Eleey and Humberto Leon, dapper proprietor of Opening Ceremony. “The art world is the big tent,” a friend observed. “These kinds of meetings couldn’t be orchestrated anywhere else—or certainly not at this speed. People come into our world, but we don’t really send people out. Except maybe Kathryn Bigelow.”
The reason for Monday’s small gala dinner, announced only days before and coming less than two weeks after MoMA’s Party in the Garden, was ostensibly to celebrate a partnership between MoMA and Volkswagen (which is sponsoring some education programs, the current Francis Alÿs exhibition, and another show down the line). But why Madonna? “She’s here to see Hahn-Bin,” someone shrugged.
Hahn-Bin is the twenty-two-year-old Itzhak Perlman protégé currently in the custody of Biesenbach and surrogate of cool Brian Phillips. Wearing leather wedge-heeled boots, leopard-print tights, and a sleeveless black kaftan and white turban, Hahn-Bin did a spellbinding, virtuosic rendition of Ravel’s Tzigane, climbing atop the grand piano in the center of the atrium and swinging his bow into the air. The world’s number one Heather stood up from her seat and watched intently, arms folded, occasionally smiling and nodding her head to the ostinatti. After Hahn-Bin finished, Biesenbach swooped in, grabbed a chair, and sat him next to her. They enjoyed a public/private tête-à-tête, then hugged. She left almost immediately after.
“She was so nice!” Hahn-Bin said. “She said she’d call me. We have a lot in common. We’re both Leos.”
“There are two people in the art world who really mediate the worlds of art and celebrity: Jeffrey Deitch and Klaus,” suggested another guest. “The difference is that Klaus is actually one of them—he’s a celebrity.” A stranger in a strange land, he descends from Hollywood to spread the happy truth of fame.
Abramovic and Koh climbed a podium on one side of the room and commenced a brief history of the use of Volkswagens in art. Works flashed on the atrium’s walls: Alys’s Rehearsal, Pipilotti Rist’s Ever Is Over All, Damián Ortega’s Cosmic Thing. Abramovic played the straight man, announcing titles and such, while Koh spoke in gibberish, parroting/parodying his own performance Art History, a Lecture: 1642–2009. When a photo from Chris Burden’s Trans-Fixed appeared, with the artist nailed, Christlike, to his vintage VW Beetle, the executives and artists and sundry icons of culture laughed and clapped in winking unison. All at once art and the market, the marketing of art, swirled in a transfixing, stupefying mix.

Trannyshack superstars Heklina, Exhibit Q., Kim Burly, Miss Rahni, Holy McGrail, Jordan L’Moore, Ambrosia Salad, Lindsay Slowhands, and Precious Moments pay tribute to the queen of pop tonight, also featuring the return of KIMO’s 20 Years Of Madonna In 20 Minutes and DJ Adrian (Bootie) spinning all Madonna, all night. Trannyshack, San Francisco’s infamous drag performance night club, shocked and delighted packed audiences every Tuesday night at midnight for over twelve years. Defying all expectations, Trannyshack incorporated everything from low brow trash to high brow performance art, and became famous (or, infamous) worldwide as the quintessential San Francisco experience. No visit to the City was complete without a stop at Trannyshack.

Cannes 2011: Madonna va remplacer Sharon Stone au gala de l'AmfAR?

Une fois n’est pas coutume, ce soir, c’est Madonna qui devrait être aux commandes du gala de l’AmfAR, révèle le magazine Public. Habituellement animé par Sharon Stone, qui a décliné cette année l’invitation, ce dîner caritatif rassemble tout le gratin de la Croisette. Créée par Elizabeth Taylor, l’AmfAR est une organisation qui lutte contre le SIDA : tous les ans, elle organise une grande soirée pendant le Festival de Cannes, afin de récolter des fonds. Les années précédentes, on a pu croiser Diane Kruger, Marion Cotillard, Karl Lagerfeld, Mick Jagger…
Cette année, avec la présence de Madonna en maîtresse de cérémonie, le gala de l’AmfAR risque d’être la it-party de la quinzaine. La chanteuse était déjà présente à la soirée cannoise en 2008, année où l’organisation caritative avait battu des records en matière de dons : plus de 10 millions de dollars récoltés en une soirée ! L'édition 2011 fera-t-elle mieux ?

Exclu Public : Cannes 2011 : Madonna remplacera-t-elle Sharon Stone pour présider le gala de charité de l’AmfAR ?

L’actrice Sharon Stone devait présider le gala de charité de l’AmfAR contre le SIDA, comme chaque année. Mais la belle a décliné cette invitation et c’est Madonna qui prendrait le relais ! On s’attendait à une star pour remplacer Sharon et on aurait carrément LA Star ! L’AmfAR est une organisation luttant contre le SIDA, créée par la défunte Elizabeth Taylor. Chaque année à l’occasion du Festival de Cannes, l’association organise un des galas les plus courus, et chaque année, c’est la sulfureuse Sharon Stone qui anime la cérémonie. Mais changement de programme pour cette édition, exit Basic Instinct ! Alors qui pour la remplacer ? Eh bien, accrochez-vous, il se murmure actuellement sur la croisette que c'est la grande Madonna (oui, oui Madonna) qui devrait présider la cérémonie ! Le gala était déjà un must de Cannes, il va carrément devenir the place to be si la nouvelle se confirme!
Il faut dire que Madonna a un peu plus de temps à consacrer à son prochain depuis qu’elle a quitté Brahim, son toy boy officiel...
Bref, le 19 mai prochain aura donc lieu le gala de charité de l’AmfAR et les stars défileront pour apporter leur contribution à cette noble cause ainsi que pour vraisemblablement découvrir une Madonna célibataire et maîtresse de cérémonie.

Scoop ! Alors que Sharon Stone tient habituellement les rênes du prestigieux gala de l’AmfAR contre le SIDA, on attend une autre star pour le présenter ! Grosse surprise en perspective ! Le Festival de Cannes, c’est bien sûr un évènement cinématographique mondial, mais c'est aussi le moment où les stars se réunissent pour donner aux autres. Comme au cours du très côté gala de l’AmfAR où chaque année Sharon Stone, en maîtresse de cérémonie, récolte des fonds pour l’organisation fondée par l’actrice Elizabeth Taylor, décédée le 23 mars dernier. C’est le 19 mai prochain qu’aura lieu cet événement inattendu et contrairement aux autres années, ce n’est pas Sharon Stone qui le présidera ! Pour l’instant on ne sait pas encore qui la remplacera, mais une très grande surprise nous attend ! Public vous tient très vite au courant !

After turning it out at the Met Costume Insitute Gala, Beyoncé and hubby Jay-Z partied uptown at Anna Wintour's bash at Crown. The two were the first to arrive, and they hit the dance floor after saying hi to DJ Cassidy, who spun tunes at the bash. Downstairs, Madonna, Rihanna and Paul McCartney hung out together, and McCartney kept requesting Michael Jackson songs. The trio were the last to leave the star-studded bash – which also drew out Kanye West, Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen – around 3 a.m.

One of the most sculpted singers on the planet revealed she felt ‘fat’ in her red carpet gown last night.
Madonna sent a tremor of disbelief through the prestigious Met Gala when she confessed that she felt less than perfect in her designer gown.
The dress, designed by Madonna’s good friend Stella McCartney, left the fashion pack all agreeing in unison that the singer looked sensational in the blue, floor-length silk gown that was adorned with stars cascading down the back.
But it would seem the impeccably svelte and sculpted singer had been robbed of her red carpet confidence yesterday evening.
She told the assembled reporters: 'I feel fat.' according to celebrity website US Weekly.
Famed for her vigorously disciplined macrobiotic diet and intense fitness regimes, the 52-year-old mother of four left bystanders shaking their heads in disbelief at the singer’s surprise confession.
Nobody could have guessed that behind her red lipped smile, the Queen of Pop was battling with a few body confidence issues.
Feeling frumpy and uncomfortable is something Madonna will surely not have felt since her pre-workout days, back in the 1980s, but it could be that the star’s recent change in fitness routine is the reason for her low self esteem.
At the end of 2010, Madonna famously sacked her personal trainer, Tracy Anderson, in exchange for her own personally tailored workout regimes.
It was not long before Madonna's former trainer retaliated over her dismissal.
In January this year, Tracy voiced her disappointment at losing Madonna as a client when she boldly predicted the singer would end up ‘going back the other way.’
The celebrity trainer, whose sought after services are responsible for the super slim figures of Gwyneth Paltrow and Jennifer Aniston, implied that without her help Madonna would undoubtedly go back to her old, bulkier frame.
She told Grazia magazine: ‘I reversed the years Madonna spent getting bulky and made her more feminine, but I think she’s going back the other way now.’
Tracy added: ‘You just have to look at any of the other women I work with and you can see that’s not what my method produces.’
But fashion critics at last night’s stylish event only had praise for the iconic singer’s appearance.
Teaming the gown with Cartier jewellery and a pair of Sergio Rossi heels, onlookers all agreed that the Material Girl still looked beautifully polished and that the Stella McCartney dress was possibly the prettiest thing Madonna has worn in years.

At the Met Gala in New York on Monday night, Madonna confessed to reporters that she wasn't thrilled with the way she looked.
"I feel fat in my dress," she said.
The 52-year-old mother of four looked extremely fit in her blue Stella McCartney dress. She paired the gown with Sergio Rossi heels and Cartier jewelry.
The chiseled star, famous for her macrobiotic diet and intense workout regime, even opened a Hard Candy gym in Mexico City and has plans to expand the franchise to more than ten locations worldwide.
